Hayden had a follow up appointment with his neurologist today. No changes were made to his seizure medicine and no EEG was scheduled since all is remaining steady with him. We discussed Hayden's eye poking, head banging, and other self-stimulating behaviors. She said that there really isn't much we can do,other than redirect his behavior without punishment. I also let her know that he is still crying when loud noises end suddenly (vacuum). Apparently, he likes the stimulation of the noise and it upsets him when we turn the noise off. Most of the time, it upsets him so much that he vomits. I advised her that Hayden's in-home therapy from the hospital would end when he went to preschool, possibly this May. Since the rest of this therapy is provided by the school district, that would mean that Hayden wouldn't have therapy all summer. NOT ACCEPTABLE! She suggested that we get in touch with ChildServe for therapy services.
We will follow up in 3 months. Hopefully, with only wonderful gains in fine motor and gross motor skills to report. Keeping our fingers crossed.
