The poor EEG ladies have to come down to our room several times a day to fix the leads that Hayden keeps pulling off. Even sitting right next to him in his bed, he is able to pop one of those electrodes in seconds. He is so sneaky! He would make us think he was going to rub his eye and then sneak his finger up to his forehead and pull off an electrode. He has been quite a handful when he's been awake. The best thing was that he was in a regular bed so I could snuggle in beside him to try to keep his sneaky righty hand in line.
It's a wonder he can even sleep covered in all of this:
In addition to the EEG stuff on his head and chest and his feeding pump, he has on a thumb splint, ankle braces, and knee immobilizers to try to sleep in. There is no way I could sleep in all of it!
He was able to sneak in some play time, too:
I was able to sneak a couple of tastes of ice cream in his mouth. He actually seemed he was okay with taking a few tastes! I tried licorice, but that was promptly thrown on the floor. Oh well, maybe next time...
Of course, Hayden hasn't even come close to doing any of the things we came to see. There was a tornado warning yesterday, so we had to go out into the hall. Hayden was asleep and I warned them that he would throw up if we woke him up to take him out into the hall. The EEG monitor wouldn't reach into the hall so it was unplugged. Once it was unplugged, Hayden woke up and threw up as I warned. I was able to keep him clean and direct most of it to the floor and his bed. It would have been nice to catch that on an EEG. I have always wondered if that was a seizure, reflux or something else.
