Guardian Angel

Our hearts are full of grief as we are saddened by the loss of Tony's grandpa (VanDeventer). He passed away March 27th from congestive heart failure. We are trying to find comfort in knowing that the boys have another guardian angel to watch over them. With Nicholas's daredevil antics and Hayden's continued medical issues, they need all of the protection they can get!

We did get some good news that day. Hayden's EEG from earlier that morning looked better than the last week. No seizures since March 8th!! Wednesday will be the last dose of the steroids. Thursday, he has another EEG. Keeping our fingers crossed that he will remain seizure free once the steroids are completely out of his system.

The last couple of weeks, Hayden has been a new man. A much heavier and puffier man, but a new man none the less. He is awake more and in a better mood. He is tolerating everything, even therapy better than he has in weeks. He loves kicking his kick toy and will kick that, or anything else you put at his feet for a very long time; jabbering all the while. If he is not kicking, he is all propped up on the sofa with his favorite wooden salad bowl between his legs with a block in hand banging away. He gets a kick out knowing that he is in control of what noise he makes and how loud it is. The wooden bowl is from my grandparent's (Phillips) set. They both passed away before the boys were born, so I know that they absolutely love that one of their things is Hayden's favorite toy. Thank you Nicholas for getting it out of the cabinet and giving it to Hayden to play with. What a wonderful little brother you are!! Mommy never would have thought of that.

Other than missing Grandpa terribly, we had a good week. Here's to another.
