Hayden's preschool teacher came over today so they could get used to each other before school starts in August. Unfortunately, I had to work and missed out on the session. We've heard that Miss Kim is great and that Hayden is lucky to be in her class. He must have liked her. He wasn't as quiet as he usually is when he meets a new person. It must have something to do with all of the new voices he's heard lately. Kim will come to our house for four 1:1 sessions and then Hayden will go to school for the last four 1:1 sessions before school starts for everyone. We are so glad that she is willing to do this. With his blindness, being in unpredictable environments with unfamiliar people really stresses Hayden out. She will probably come to our house to watch some of his therapy sessions, too.
Our little boys are sure growing up and much to fast for their parents. It's going to be so hard to leave them with "strangers." We have never left them with anyone other than grandparents or for a few hours with Tony's sister and her husband. Thankfully, Hayden gets a nurse to go to school with him. That reduces our anxiety about sending him to preschool tremendously. Nicholas will be so excited to play with kids his age that can actually play with him that he won't even notice that we aren't there. Knowing he will love preschool, puts our minds at ease. Hopefully, Nick doesn't get upset that Hayden will be riding the bus to school and daddy will be taking him. Of course, the boys are in different schools and are in the two farthest schools from our home. Pretty amusing that we bought our current house because we can see the front door of an elementary school from the front door of our house. With any luck, Nick will start talking as soon as school starts and he won't need special education next year. Then, Daddy can walk him to school every morning!
